Rajasthan Assembly Budget Debate Begins: Dy CM Diya Kumari Rules Out Toll-Free State Highways

Jaipur, Feb 12, 2026: The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly commenced its budget debate on Thursday, with legislators from the ruling BJP and opposition Congress exchanging sharp arguments over state policies, employment, and the rising debt.

During the Question Hour, BJP MLA Vikram Banshiwal from Sikar raised a query regarding whether light vehicles would be exempted from tolls on state highways. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari clarified the government’s position, stating that while small vehicles had previously been exempted from tolls during Vasundhara Raje’s tenure, the subsequent Congress government reinstated toll collection. She confirmed that there are currently no plans to make tolls free for vehicles on state highways.
