‘Mahila Suraksha Sankalp’ Campaign: Women Awareness and Felicitation Programme Organized in Balotra

Information provided on women’s safety, cyber crime prevention and helpline services; 110 women performing excellently felicitated

Under the ‘Mahila Suraksha Sankalp’ (Women Safety Pledge) campaign being conducted across the state with priority on women’s safety, dignity and empowerment, a women awareness programme and felicitation ceremony was organized in Balotra district. During the programme, women were made aware of safety measures, legal rights, cyber crime prevention and available helpline services.

A total of 110 women volunteers who performed outstanding work were felicitated during the event. Women Safety Sakhis, Women CLG members, Anganwadi workers, representatives of Rajeevika groups, members of various non-governmental organizations, school principals, women advocates, ASHA workers, homemakers and women hostel wardens participated in large numbers.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Balotra District, Harfool Singh (RPS) informed that the programme was organized with coordination among Crime Assistant Ms. Kesar, Crime Assistant Office of the Superintendent of Police, Mr. Babulal (Station House Officer, Pachpadra) and Mr. Nainaram (Traffic In-charge, Balotra).

Awareness about women safety schemes and facilities

During the programme, participants were provided detailed information on various important aspects related to women’s safety. Awareness was created about self-defence training, RajCop Citizen App, Women Dignity Helpline 1090, Cyber Helpline 1930, cyber safety measures, Kalika Patrolling Unit, Women Power Self Defence Training Scheme, Women Beat Officer Scheme, Senior Citizen Honour Scheme, the new criminal laws, punishments prescribed for crimes against women and One Stop Crisis Centre facilities.

Appeal to immediately contact police in case of crime

Police officials appealed to women and girls to contact the police without hesitation in cases of harassment, domestic violence, cyber crime or any other criminal incident. They were also encouraged to make use of available helpline numbers and online services.

Objective is to strengthen women empowerment

The programme was conducted by Dr. Rameshwari Choudhary, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Ramsin Moongra, who also anchored the event. The Superintendent of Police stated that the objective of the ‘Mahila Suraksha Sankalp’ campaign is to strengthen the feeling of security among women and girls, make them aware of their rights and legal protections, and further strengthen trust and cooperation between police and society.

Balotra District Police will continue organizing various awareness programmes under this campaign in the coming days.
