Indore: ( SDNA) Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Jitu Patwari made a surprise visit late Monday night to the ongoing students’ protest at Bhanwarkuan Square in Indore. Arriving at around 2:00 AM, Patwari interacted with the protesting students, expressed solidarity with their movement, and shared a video of his visit, which quickly went viral on social media.
In the video, Patwari spoke emotionally, saying:
“I am from Indore. Bhanwarkuan is closely connected with my student life. I was actively involved in student activities and movements here during my college days. When I saw the students’ struggle, I felt I had to come and stand with them.”
Explains His Late Arrival
Questions were raised by the opposition and on social media over why the state Congress chief had reached the protest site so late. Responding to the criticism, Patwari clarified that he had been engaged in election-related programs in Datia, which prevented him from arriving earlier.
He said:
“I could not reach on time because I was occupied with election commitments in Datia. As soon as I was free, I came directly to meet the students, even though it was late at night. I felt it was my responsibility to stand with them in their struggle.”
Boosts Students’ Morale
While interacting with the students, Patwari said that every citizen has the democratic right to peacefully raise their demands. He assured the protesters that the Congress Party would raise their concerns forcefully—from the streets to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly and Parliament.
He also stated that the government should adopt a more sensitive approach toward issues concerning education and youth and should seriously consider the students’ demands.
Raises Rahul Gandhi’s Detention
Patwari also referred to the detention of Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, saying that detaining leaders who came out in support of students was not in keeping with democratic traditions.
He asserted that the Congress would continue its struggle on this issue and would keep raising its voice in support of democratic rights.
Protest Receives Strong Political Backing
Patwari’s unexpected visit to the protest site at 2:00 AM is being viewed as a significant political message. His presence has provided the students’ movement with open support from the Congress Party while intensifying the political atmosphere in Madhya Pradesh.
The movement is now being seen as more than just a student protest, evolving into a major political issue at both the state and national levels.
