Balotra, July 24, 2026: In a major action aimed at environmental protection and curbing industrial pollution, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted a raid on an illegal textile dyeing unit operating in Balotra. During the operation, officials from the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) collected samples from the site, while a suspected tanker and a tractor-tanker allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of polluted water were detained.
According to Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Kawat (IPS), the action was carried out in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court regarding the investigation of industrial pollution affecting the Jojari-Bandi-Luni river system. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Lovely Katiyar (IPS) and supervised by Additional Superintendent of Police Harphool Singh and Deputy Superintendent Babulal Muraria.
Illegal Dyeing Factory Busted
On July 24, police received information about an unauthorized textile dyeing factory operating near the BPL Quarters in Balotra town. Acting on the tip-off, the police team reached the location and found an illegal dyeing unit operating under the name “Mehar Dyeing.” The factory was allegedly disposing of polluted industrial wastewater unlawfully.
The police documented the site through photography and videography before informing the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board. RSPCB officials reached the spot, collected necessary samples, prepared the inspection report, and initiated further legal proceedings as per environmental regulations.
Illegal Transportation of Polluted Water Checked
As part of the SIT’s ongoing campaign, police conducted checkpoints in the RIICO Industrial Area, Balotra, on July 23 to prevent the illegal disposal and transportation of industrial wastewater.
During the operation, a suspicious tanker and a tractor fitted with a water tank were intercepted. Since the driver failed to produce valid documents, the vehicle was detained under Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
In a separate operation on the same day, the police team from Jasol Police Station intercepted another tractor-tanker in the Temawas Industrial Area. Following inspection, the vehicle was also detained under the Motor Vehicles Act. Police officials stated that regular surveillance and patrolling would continue to prevent the illegal transportation of polluted water.
Strict Action Against Environmental Violations
Authorities emphasized that strict action against illegal industrial waste disposal, environmental pollution, and unauthorized transportation of contaminated water will continue. The SIT, Rajasthan Police, and the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board are jointly carrying out sustained enforcement to protect the environment and preserve the Jojari-Bandi-Luni river ecosystem.
