
Prayagraj, February 2, 2026: In a shocking incident, Ramratan Mishra, a retired officer of the CBCID, was brutally murdered at his residence in Maduri village, under the Lalapur police station jurisdiction in the Yamunanagar zone of Prayagraj.
According to reports, the assailant struck Mishra on the head more than five times with a heavy object, resulting in his instantaneous death. His body was found lying in a pool of blood, with severe head injuries.
The incident came to light on Monday morning when Mishra’s grandson arrived to feed him. Finding the door locked from the inside and receiving no response, the grandson climbed over the back wall and discovered Mishra’s lifeless body. He immediately ran to alert family members and villagers, who rushed to the scene and confirmed the brutal nature of the attack.
Mishra originally hailed from Chaksoosher village, where other family members reside, but he lived alone at his Maduri residence.
Police from Lalapur station, along with forensic teams and a dog squad, reached the spot promptly. Initial investigation revealed no signs of forced entry. DCP Yamunanagar, Vivek Chandra Yadav, stated that the investigation is ongoing from all angles, including robbery, personal enmity, old grudges, or family disputes. CCTV footage from the house is being examined and may hold crucial clues.
Family members are being questioned, and no one has been named as a suspect so far. Mishra’s body has been sent for postmortem, and further action will be taken based on evidence and statements from relatives.
