MP Alok Sharma Inaugurates Tribal Dance Festival, Seminar, and Stage Play on Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar

Bhopal: Member of Parliament from the Bhopal–Sehore Lok Sabha Constituency, Shri Alok Sharma, today inaugurated a two-day Tribal Dance Festival, Seminar, and a theatrical performance based on the life of Lokmata Punyashlok Devi Ahilyabai Holkar at the Community Hall in Shivaji Nagar. The event has been organized by Abhyanshika Society and Kala Bharati Samiti with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The inauguration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

On the occasion, MP Alok Sharma honoured outstanding performers with Certificates of Appreciation. Encouraging the tribal folk artists, he also announced an incentive of ₹5,000 each from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Fund for all participating artists.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Sharma said, “Tribal culture is an integral part of India’s ancient heritage and cultural identity. Events like these serve as an important medium for passing our rich folk traditions on to future generations.”

Speaking about Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, he remarked, “Ahilyabai Holkar symbolizes good governance, selfless service, justice, and the preservation of Indian culture. Her life will continue to inspire society and the nation for generations to come.”

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Municipal Councillor Smt. Shikha Monu Gohal, who welcomed the Chief Guest, MP Alok Sharma, along with other dignitaries, artists, and members of the public by presenting floral bouquets. She stated that such cultural events play a significant role in strengthening India’s rich cultural heritage, folk traditions, and social harmony while connecting the younger generation with the nation’s glorious legacy.

Shri Rajendra Gupta, President of Abhyanshika Society, said that the objective of the programme, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is to promote Indian folk culture and spread the ideals of great personalities among the people. He expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for providing financial assistance and extended special thanks to former Municipal Commissioner Shri Vinod Shukla for his guidance and support in making the event successful.

Among those present were Councillor Smt. Shikha Monu Gohal, former Municipal Commissioner Shri Vinod Shukla, Agricultural Scientist Dr. Prafull Mishra, Patron Shri Shankar Yadav, Kala Bharati Samiti President Shri Rajendra Kushwaha, Abhyanshika Society member Shri Balista Rawat, former Councillor Shri Monu Gohal, Shri Durgesh Sahu, along with several distinguished citizens, artists, and cultural enthusiasts.
