Power Distribution Company Urges Citizens to Maintain Safe Distance from Power Lines and Transformers During Monsoon

Jabalpur, July 9: The Madhya Pradesh Poorv Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has appealed to citizens to maintain a safe distance from electric power lines, transformers, electricity poles, and stay wires during the monsoon season. The company stated that increased moisture, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall significantly raise the risk of leakage current, damaged power lines, and electrical accidents.

The Superintending Engineer of the Power Distribution Company advised citizens not to tamper with electrical lines, transformers, or any power equipment during the rainy season. If any electricity pole is found damaged or a power line breaks or falls, the incident should be reported immediately to the nearest power distribution center or the company’s 24×7 toll-free helpline 1912. Citizens are strongly advised not to touch or cross fallen power lines under any circumstances.

The company has also recommended that tea stalls, roadside kiosks, and shops constructed with metal sheets should ensure that their electrical wiring is installed safely using PVC pipes. Damaged or loose wiring should be repaired immediately to prevent risks to life and property.

During rainfall, people should avoid walking through waterlogged areas near electricity poles or stay wires due to the possibility of leakage current. Parents are advised to keep children away from electrical installations, and livestock should never be tied to electricity poles or stay wires. Similarly, clothes should not be dried using electrical poles, service lines, or metal wires, as they may become electrically charged.

Citizens have also been advised to get the wiring, earthing, switches, and electrical fittings in their homes inspected periodically by qualified electricians. Any electrical fault should be repaired only by trained professionals and not by unqualified persons.

The company has further appealed to farmers not to store harvested crops beneath overhead power lines or near electricity poles and transformers. The use of damaged electrical cables for agricultural operations should also be strictly avoided.

In case of any emergency or electricity-related hazard, citizens should immediately contact the company’s 24×7 toll-free helpline 1912. For electricity-related complaints in rural Jabalpur, the District Control Room at Madhotal can also be contacted at 7648818806.

The Power Distribution Company has urged all citizens to follow electrical safety guidelines during the monsoon season to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of life and property.
