
Dehradun, February 3:
A tragic bus accident occurred in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, when a Himachal Roadways bus carrying passengers fell into a gorge near Vikasnagar, claiming four lives and injuring more than 30 others.
The bus, en route to Paonta Sahib via the Meens-Kwanu-Haripur route, left the Chaupal depot at around 6:30 AM. The accident reportedly happened around 10 AM near Sudoi Khad when the bus swerved to give way to a truck. The vehicle lost balance as the roadside embankment gave way, causing it to plunge into a deep gorge after overturning several times. Among the deceased are two men and two women.
Local residents rushed to the site to help rescue passengers even before the authorities arrived. Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) quickly reached the scene and initiated relief and rescue operations. The injured were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident and have advised caution on the hilly roads of the Vikasnagar region.
