Training Conducted on ‘DAESI’ Diploma for Applicants Seeking Fertilizer and Seed Sales Licenses

The Department of Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development organized a special training program at the Agricultural Extension and Training Centre, Adhartal, on Saturday to guide applicants seeking new licenses for the sale of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides. The training was specifically designed for individuals who do not possess a B.Sc. in Agriculture or B.Sc. in Chemistry but wish to establish businesses dealing in agricultural inputs.

Conducted under the guidance of facilitator V.G. Goswami, the program provided detailed information about the DAESI (Diploma in Agricultural Extension Services for Input Dealers) course and various agricultural laws and regulations.

Dr. Indira Tripathi, Deputy Director of Agriculture and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Patan, explained the provisions of the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985, the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and the practical aspects of maintaining records, obtaining licenses, and following the legal procedures for collecting and providing product samples.

Arunima Sen, Principal of the Agricultural Extension and Training Centre, briefed participants on the Seeds Act and the Seeds Control Order, emphasizing the importance of legal compliance, proper documentation, and record maintenance for fertilizer and seed dealers.

Officials informed participants that the DAESI Diploma is a one-year specialized course conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, through the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. The diploma is mandatory for obtaining a new license to sell fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides and aims to equip dealers with technical agricultural knowledge so they can provide accurate guidance to farmers.

The course consists of one class per week over a period of one year. Applicants must have passed at least Class 10, and each batch generally accommodates 40 candidates.

The Agriculture Department has advised interested applicants to contact the Deputy Director of Agriculture Office, ATMA Project Office, or their local Agricultural Extension and Training Centre for information regarding upcoming batches and the application process.
