Food Safety Administration’s Major Crackdown: 640 Litres of Suspected Ghee Seized in Indore, 21 Food Samples Collected for Testing

Ghee Brought from Other States Comes Under Scanner; Expired Premix Destroyed on the Spot

As part of the Madhya Pradesh Government’s ongoing special drive against adulterated and substandard food products, launched under the directions of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Food Safety Administration, Indore, carried out a major enforcement action on Saturday. Officials seized approximately 640 litres of suspected ghee brought into Indore from other states, valued at around ₹300,000 (₹3 lakh). In addition, 21 food samples were collected for laboratory analysis, while expired premix found at one outlet was immediately destroyed.

The inspection drive was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner, Food Safety, Madhya Pradesh, the Controller of Food and Drug Administration, and Indore Collector Shivam Verma. The campaign focused on high-risk food establishments under the Risk-Based Inspection System (RBIS).

Suspected Ghee Imported from Gujarat Seized

A joint team of Food Safety Officers conducted a detailed inspection at M/s Krish Enterprises, located at SDA Compound, Lasudia Mori, Dewas Naka. During the inspection, a large stock of ‘Vastu’ brand ghee, manufactured by Shri Radhe Dairy Farm & Foods Limited, Pipodara, Mangrol (Surat), Gujarat, was found in various packaging sizes.

The officials collected 10 samples from different packs for laboratory testing. As the quality of the ghee appeared suspicious during inspection, nearly 640 litres of ghee were seized as a precautionary measure until the laboratory analysis report is received. Further legal action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, based on the test results.

Expired Premix Found at ‘Yewale Tea’ Outlet

During an RBIS inspection at The Magic Tea (Yewale Tea) outlet on Navlakha Main Road, officials found ‘Yewale Without Sugar Premix’ being stored for use despite its expiry date having passed.

Prioritizing consumer health and safety, the Food Safety team prepared a formal seizure report and destroyed the expired premix on the spot. Three samples—Ginger Tea, Yewale Without Sugar Premix, and Yewale Aam Panna—were collected for laboratory analysis.

Inspections at Other Food Establishments

The team also inspected FA Gift Pvt. Ltd., Jaora Compound, where three samples of Vanilla Muffin, Choco Chips, and Vanilla Premix were collected.

At Sai Kripa Milk Dairy, Nainod, officials collected three samples of mixed milk, paneer, and ghee.

Similarly, under RBIS inspection at Ashiq Dairy Farm, Noorani Nagar, Village Bank, two samples of mixed milk and curd were collected for quality testing.

Strict Instructions Issued to Food Business Operators

During the inspections, all food business operators were instructed to:

• Store food products at prescribed temperatures.
• Never use or sell expired food items.
• Maintain proper traceability records.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene and sanitation.
• Conduct regular pest control and use safe drinking water.
• Ensure medical fitness of food handlers.
• Comply fully with all provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

The Food Safety Administration stated that appropriate legal action will be initiated against any establishment found violating food safety standards after the laboratory reports are received.
