Sri Ganganagar, July 22 (SDNA): Farmer leader Rakhpal Singh, who had continuously worked for farmers’ issues, including the demand for canal water, passed away in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan. He was 55 years old.
Singh was a member of the Rajasthan Core Committee of the Gramin Mazdoor Kisan Samiti (GKS), one of the largest farmers’ organizations in the region, and was also the president of the Anupgarh block unit. He was known as a prominent voice for farmers and had been actively involved in raising their concerns for a long time.
His last rites were performed on Tuesday at his ancestral village Chak 26-A, located near the Pakistan border in the Anupgarh subdivision area. Several office-bearers and workers of GKS were present on the occasion and paid their final respects by wrapping their leader in the GKS flag.
A large number of farmers, social activists, and dignitaries from the region attended the funeral and paid tribute to Rakhpal Singh, remembering his contribution and struggles for farmers’ rights.
