Ujjain: A demand has been raised for immediate improvements to the admission portal of Samrat Vikramaditya University, Ujjain, after an applicant was reportedly denied admission to the Master of Arts (M.A.) program due to a technical limitation in the online system.
According to Advocate Samta Patel, she passed the Higher Secondary Examination in 1984 under the then-prevailing education system and later completed her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. However, while applying for admission, the university’s online portal accepted only the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) qualification under the current education pattern and did not recognize candidates who had passed the earlier 11th Standard Higher Secondary system.
Under the previous education system, students who successfully completed the 11th Standard Higher Secondary Examination were eligible for admission to college. Due to the portal’s current configuration, such candidates are unable to complete the admission process, raising concerns that eligible applicants from the earlier education system may be unfairly deprived of higher education opportunities.
Advocate Samta Patel stated that she had formally informed Samrat Vikramaditya University about the issue after being denied admission to the M.A. program last year. However, despite the passage of nearly a year, she claims that she has neither received any official response nor seen any correction made to the admission portal.
She has urged the university administration to update the portal at the earliest so that candidates who passed under the former Higher Secondary (11th Standard) education system can apply for admission without facing technical obstacles.
