For those troubled by mice and small insects, YouTuber Poonam Singh has shared a simple, traditional remedy. Instead of using poisonous chemicals, this method employs camphor and incense sticks, providing a safe and natural alternative.
Mice can cause considerable damage at home, from gnawed items to potential health risks. Poonam Singh suggests a potent home remedy that combines camphor, incense sticks, and naphthalene. The strong aroma of these ingredients is unbearable to mice, driving them away immediately.
Not only effective against mice, this homemade solution can also repel flies, mosquitoes, and even lizards. Inexpensive and easy to prepare, it offers a practical option for households—but some precautions are necessary.
Required Ingredients
The remedy uses simple ingredients easily found in kitchens or prayer rooms:
- 2 incense sticks
- 5 camphor tablets
- 1 naphthalene ball
The strong smell of camphor and incense plays a key role in keeping mice and insects away.
Preparing the Powder
Grind the 2 incense sticks and 5 camphor tablets together. Separately, crush the naphthalene ball into a fine powder. Mix all three components in a bowl to create a uniform mixture. The pungent smell of naphthalene is particularly repellent to insects.
Liquid and Solid Mixture
Place the prepared powder in a bowl and add some lukewarm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes so the water absorbs the essence of all ingredients. After 10 minutes, strain the mixture using a sieve. You will now have two components: the strained liquid and the solid residue.
Making Dough Balls for Mice
Do not discard the solid residue. Mix it with 2 tablespoons of wheat flour and knead it with a little water. Form small dough balls. These balls attract mice, but due to the camphor and naphthalene, the rodents immediately leave after tasting them.
Using the Spray
Pour the strained liquid into a spray bottle. Use it to repel lizards, cockroaches, flies, and mosquitoes. Spray it in corners, under sinks, and behind curtains where insects hide. The strong aroma keeps them from settling indoors.
How to Use
Place the dough balls at night in areas where mice are most active, such as storerooms or under the kitchen counter. Since mice are nocturnal, this timing is crucial. Use the spray in the evening around windows and doors to prevent flies and mosquitoes from entering.
Important Precautions
Although natural, care is essential:
- Keep dough balls out of reach of children—they may look edible.
- Ensure pets such as cats and dogs do not ingest them.
- Wash hands thoroughly after handling the mixture or dough balls.
- Avoid spraying on food items.
With this traditional, homemade remedy, households can manage mice and pests safely and effectively without resorting to harmful chemicals.
