Manisha Mhaiskar Appointed Maharashtra ACS Home; Nagpur Connection Highlighted

Nagpur: The Maharashtra government has appointed Manisha Mhaiskar as the new Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Home Department, following the retirement of Iqbal Singh Chahal. A 1992-batch IAS officer, Mhaiskar previously headed the Public Works Department (PWD). Her husband, Milind Mhaiskar, who was managing the Forest Department, has now been assigned responsibility for the PWD. Mhaiskar’s appointment underscores a growing administrative influence from Nagpur, as she hails from the city and will now lead the crucial Home Department. Faridkot Records Punjab’s Lowest Temperature at 3.8°C Amid Intense Cold Wave

CHANDIGARH: Faridkot was the coldest place in Punjab on Saturday, recording a minimum temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius, as the state, along with neighbouring Haryana, experienced severe cold conditions. The common capital, Chandigarh, woke up to a thick blanket of fog, with the minimum temperature settling at 7.7 degrees Celsius, a local weather official said. Fog was reported in several other locations across Punjab, including Amritsar, Patiala and Ludhiana, while Haryana witnessed similar conditions in Ambala, Karnal and Hisar, the official added. Authorities have advised residents, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against the chilly weather and early morning fog, which could also disrupt road visibility.

SHAHJAHANPUR : A 17-year-old brick kiln worker was brutally killed after being struck on the head with a heavy object in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district, police said on Saturday. The body of the victim, Kamlesh Kumar, a resident of Rawatpur village, was found on Saturday morning near the village panchayat building, approximately 200 metres from his residence, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi told PTI.
