War-Like Situation in Balochistan as BLA Launches ‘Operation Herof-2’; 20 Pakistani Soldiers Killed

Balochistan witnessed intense violence on Saturday after the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) launched the second phase of its military campaign, ‘Operation Herof-2’, targeting Pakistani security forces across 12 cities, including the provincial capital Quetta. The attacks have pushed the region into war-like conditions, with heavy gunfights, explosions, and aerial assaults reported throughout the day.

According to claims made by the BLA, at least 20 Pakistani security personnel were killed, including eight soldiers in the Noshki area alone. The militant group alleged that Pakistani forces were forced to retreat from several locations and later resorted to combat helicopter strikes to regain control.

The violence erupted following the reported killing of 41 civilians by Pakistani security forces earlier this week, an incident that has further fueled unrest in the restive province.

BLA Fighters Seen Across Cities; Jail and Police Stations Seized

The BLA released multiple videos showing armed fighters freely moving through the streets of Balochistan in large numbers. In a major escalation, militants claimed to have taken control of the Central Jail, seized several police stations, and released prisoners.

Reports from The Balochistan Post stated that this was the first time such a large number of BLA fighters entered Quetta, triggering multiple loud explosions across the city. Authorities suspended all railway services across the province, while emergency alerts were issued in hospitals in Quetta and surrounding districts.

BLA Leadership Calls for Public Support

BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch confirmed the launch of the second phase of Operation Herof, describing it as a “decisive resistance” against what he termed “occupying forces” in Balochistan.

Meanwhile, BLA chief Bashir Zeb appealed to the people of Balochistan to support and assist the fighters, stating that the campaign was aimed at defending their homeland. He warned that there would be no safe space for Pakistani forces in the province.

What Is Operation Herof?

Operation Herof was first launched by the BLA in August 2024. During its initial phase, the group claimed to have killed 130 Pakistani soldiers, captured key highways, and occupied a military base for nearly 20 hours, marking one of the largest militant offensives in Balochistan’s history.

The BLA has also issued a warning to China, urging it to stay away from Gwadar and Balochistan, threatening severe consequences otherwise.

Situation Remains Tense

As of Saturday evening, heavy fighting was reported in multiple districts, with Pakistani forces relying on aerial operations to counter the insurgents. The situation remains volatile, and authorities have not yet issued an official casualty count.
