Are you noticing random deductions of ₹100, ₹500, or even ₹1000 every month from your UPI account for subscriptions you no longer use? If so, a government portal can help you stop all these unwanted AutoPay transactions with just one click, without having to visit multiple payment apps. Here’s how you can do it easily.
What Is AutoPay and Why Is It a Problem?
AutoPay is a feature that automatically deducts payments for subscriptions from your account on a recurring basis. While it’s designed for convenience—ensuring uninterrupted access to services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, or mobile recharges—many users forget about these subscriptions after a while. As a result, money continues to get deducted every month for services they no longer use. This is where the problem lies: people end up paying for subscriptions they don’t need.
How to Stop AutoPay Payments from All Your Subscriptions?
To help solve this issue, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has created an official portal that allows you to see and manage all active AutoPay subscriptions linked to your UPI account in one place. You can stop or revoke any subscriptions from this portal, saving you time and effort from going into each individual app.
Here’s how you can use the NPCI portal to stop unwanted AutoPay payments:
- Open your browser on a mobile phone or laptop and search for upihelp.npci.
- This will take you to the official NPCI UPI website, which is completely safe and secure as it’s a government portal.
- Log in using the mobile number that’s linked to your UPI account.
- Once logged in, click on “Show My AutoPay Mandates”.
- A list of all active AutoPay mandates linked to your account will be displayed.
What Services Will Appear on the Portal?
On the “AutoPay Mandates” section of the portal, you will see a detailed list of all the services where money is being deducted from your account every month. This includes apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, or any other subscription service. You will also be able to see how much is being deducted each month and since when the AutoPay was activated.
For example, if you signed up for a ₹649 Netflix plan and no longer watch it, you can find that subscription on the NPCI portal and stop future payments. This way, you can easily identify and stop unwanted subscriptions.
How to Stop Unwanted AutoPay Subscriptions?
Once you open the list of AutoPay mandates, you can choose to Pause or Revoke any unwanted payments:
- Pause: This temporarily stops the AutoPay, and you can restart it later if you wish.
- Revoke: This completely cancels the AutoPay, and if you wish to resume the subscription, you will need to set it up again from scratch.
Both options are available for each AutoPay entry, and you can manage them with just a click.
This government portal ensures you don’t have to go through each app individually to stop unwanted charges, offering a hassle-free way to regain control of your subscriptions and save unnecessary expenses.
