Patna, January 14, 2026: After months of tension within Bihar’s most prominent political family, signs of reconciliation are emerging. The icy relationship between Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons appears to be thawing, highlighted by the recent ‘Chura-Dahi’ feast hosted by Tej Pratap Yadav.
The family feud had intensified when decisions by the elder son went viral on social media, reportedly over a personal matter, leading Lalu Yadav to suspend Tej Pratap from the party for six years. However, the traditional Chura-Dahi feast — a symbolic gesture of celebration and unity — provided an opportunity to mend ties.
During the event, Lalu Yadav, wearing dark sunglasses following eye surgery, struggled in the sunlight. In a touching gesture, Tej Pratap shielded his father’s face with a towel, an act captured in a photograph. Tejashwi Yadav later shared this picture on his social media account, calling it “today’s most lovely picture” and highlighting the affectionate bond between father and son.
The post quickly garnered thousands of likes, with supporters praising the display of family love and unity. Analysts suggest that such moments at traditional gatherings may help repair the strained relationships between Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and the party at large, restoring harmony within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
The Chura-Dahi feast, therefore, is seen not just as a cultural ritual but as a bridge mending political and personal bonds in one of Bihar’s most influential families.
