

New Delhi. (SDNA) Renowned Ladakh-based environmentalist and education reformist Sonam Wangchuk has ended his 26-day-long hunger strike. He decided to end his fast following positive assurances from the government and the process of dialogue.
Sonam Wangchuk said that his movement was not aimed at confrontation or opposition but was focused on raising the concerns of youth, seeking reforms in the education system, and protecting the right to express views through democratic means. He expressed hope that the government would seriously consider issues related to young people and move forward towards a solution.
Wangchuk’s hunger strike received support from across the country. During the movement, he highlighted concerns of students and youth, demanding transparency and accountability in the examination system and fair treatment for those participating in peaceful protests.
After a prolonged campaign, he decided to withdraw his hunger strike considering the progress made through dialogue and consensus. He appealed to his supporters to maintain peace and continue believing in the democratic process.
Sonam Wangchuk’s movement remained a major topic of discussion across the country, particularly regarding youth concerns and reforms in the education sector. His supporters described it as a peaceful struggle and a democratic expression of public concerns.
