Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has announced a decisive crackdown on criminals and drug traffickers, signaling the launch of the state’s most aggressive action plan yet to ensure law and order. In a marathon meeting with senior Home Department officials at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday night, Sharma emphasized that the state will now instill fear of the law among criminals, rather than just maintain law and order.
10-day review cycle: Accountability for negligence
The Chief Minister has introduced a strict monitoring mechanism. Officials are required to submit progress reports every 10 days, and Sharma warned that negligence will have serious consequences. “Results must be visible on the ground. If crime rises or enforcement against drugs weakens, responsible officers will face action,” he stated.
Targeting the drug supply chain
Under the “Drug-Free Rajasthan” initiative, the CM has ordered special vigilance in border districts such as Anupgarh, Barmer, and Shri Ganganagar. The Police, Drug Control Department, and Health Department have been tasked to operate as a coordinated force to dismantle every route of drug trafficking. Sharma stressed that drug abuse is the root cause of crime, and eradicating it is the government’s top priority.
Beyond arrests: Ensuring convictions
Chief Minister Sharma instructed Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma that apprehending hardcore criminals is not enough. The administration will ensure strong prosecution in courts to secure maximum punishment. Additionally, awareness campaigns in schools and colleges are being planned to educate and protect youth from falling into the trap of drugs and crime.
With this strategy, Rajasthan aims to send a clear message: criminals and drug dealers will no longer find a safe haven in the state.
