
Hazaribagh, 25 February 2026: In a daring and cinematic heist, armed robbers struck a jewelry shop in Hazaribagh’s Chouparan area, making away with gold, silver, and cash worth approximately ₹20 lakh. The gang also held a woman hostage during their escape, leaving the local community in shock.
According to reports, five to six masked gunmen targeted a jewelry store near Mahudi Mod late at night. The robbers broke the shop’s shutter and disabled the CCTV camera before using a cutter to break open the safe. They filled their bags with gold and silver jewelry and also took some cash left in the shop.
Woman Held at Gunpoint
During the robbery, a woman inside the shop noticed the thieves and raised an alarm. The robbers, in a dramatic turn, held her at gunpoint as they made their escape, using her as a human shield to avoid detection by the gathering crowd.
Police Investigation Underway
The incident prompted an immediate response from local police. The DSP and Chouparan Station Officer, along with a police force, reached the scene and began investigating. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and search operations are ongoing to track down the culprits.
The brazen robbery has created a wave of fear among residents, and authorities have assured strict action against the armed gang responsible.
