
Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident that has triggered panic in the region, a 26-year-old nurse was brutally shot dead at the main gate of a government hospital in Shahgarh town of Sagar district on Wednesday night.
The victim has been identified as Deepshikha Chadhar, a resident of Patan in Jabalpur district, who was posted on duty at the Shahgarh Community Health Centre (CHC).
According to eyewitnesses, Deepshikha was standing near the hospital gate during her night duty when an unknown attacker suddenly opened fire. The assailant reportedly fired three rounds, hitting her twice in the arms and once in the abdomen, resulting in her death on the spot.
The sound of gunshots created chaos and fear among hospital staff and nearby residents. By the time people rushed to the spot, the attacker had already fled, taking advantage of darkness and escaping towards the nearby forest area.
Police Launch Search Operation, CCTV Footage Under Examination
Soon after the incident, Shahgarh police and senior officials reached the scene. A major search operation has been launched, and barricading has been carried out across Shahgarh and surrounding areas to track down the accused.
Shahgarh Station House Officer Sandeep Khare confirmed that the accused managed to escape towards the forest and said police teams are actively conducting raids to arrest him.
Authorities are also examining CCTV footage installed in and around the hospital premises to identify the suspect and trace his movements.
Multiple Angles Under Investigation
Police officials stated that the case is being investigated from all possible angles, including personal rivalry, past enmity, and possible relationship-related motives.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further legal proceedings are underway.
Police have assured that the case will be solved soon and the accused will be arrested at the earliest.
