Atul Gera, Secretary of Life Savers, Ranchi unit, informed the bench led by Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan that despite previous court orders, patients still receive blood only when their relatives donate a unit to replenish the blood bank stock. The PIL was filed following incidents where children in Chaibasa and Ranchi were found HIV-positive due to contaminated blood transfusions.
