Hope Rises for Shamli’s Captain Vijay Kumar Trapped in Iran; Detained on Merchant Navy Ship for Over a Month
Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Families of Captain Vijay Kumar, a Merchant Navy officer from Bhainswal village in Gadhpukhta, Shamli, received a ray of hope for his early return to India. Captain Vijay and other crew members, who have been detained on a ship in Iran for over a month, have now been given their mobile phones back by Iranian authorities, allowing regular communication with their families.
Speaking to reporters, Vijay’s father, retired teacher Charan Singh, said the family is now able to speak to him daily. Vijay confirmed that the Iranian government has returned mobile phones to all crew members on board, although they remain under the supervision of the Iranian Navy.
