After transforming India’s telecom landscape with Jio, Reliance Industries is now setting its sights on a far bigger frontier—Artificial Intelligence. In a move that could redefine India’s digital future, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani has unveiled a bold AI Manifesto, outlining the conglomerate’s vision to make AI affordable, accessible, and transformative for every Indian.
Calling Artificial Intelligence “the most important technological development in human history,” Ambani said the world has only seen a small glimpse of AI’s true potential so far. According to him, AI holds the power to solve some of humanity’s most complex challenges—provided it is deployed responsibly and inclusively.
A Two-Part AI Blueprint
According to an ANI report, Reliance’s AI strategy is structured in two distinct parts.
The first phase focuses on transforming Reliance itself—re-engineering internal operations, decision-making, and productivity by placing AI at the core of the company’s functioning.
The second phase looks outward, aiming to drive India’s broader AI transformation. Having played a pivotal role in India’s digital revolution, Reliance now wants to lead the nation into the AI era.
Four Big Pillars of the Reliance AI Vision
- Becoming an AI-Native Deep Tech Company
Reliance aims to reinvent itself as an AI-native enterprise—one where artificial intelligence is embedded into every process, product, and service. - Affordable AI for Every Indian
At the heart of the manifesto lies a powerful goal: democratizing AI. Reliance wants to make advanced AI tools affordable and accessible to the common citizen, ensuring AI-driven growth not just for the economy, but for everyday lives. - Strategic Global Partnerships
A recent partnership with Google highlights this approach. Under the collaboration, Jio users receive free access to Google’s Gemini Pro AI subscription—valued at nearly ₹33,000—bundled with select recharge plans. This move signals how Reliance plans to scale AI adoption rapidly. - AI Across Critical Sectors
Leveraging its vast nationwide network, Reliance plans to expand AI applications across key sectors such as technology, energy, and healthcare—areas critical to India’s long-term development.
A Jio-Style Disruption in the Making?
The AI manifesto inevitably draws comparisons with Jio’s telecom revolution. Once a late entrant, Jio reshaped the industry with affordable 4G data and went on to become India’s largest telecom operator. Industry observers believe Reliance could replicate this playbook in AI—driving down costs, accelerating adoption, and reshaping the competitive landscape.
If Jio connected India to the internet, Reliance’s AI vision may well connect India to intelligence at scale. As the AI race intensifies globally, Mukesh Ambani’s manifesto signals that India does not intend to follow—it intends to lead.
