New Delhi: Reliance Jio has rolled out a new feature in the MyJio app that allows users to manage voice and video call forwarding directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need to access the phone’s default settings. The update aims to enhance user privacy and prevent unauthorized call forwarding.
Protecting Your Calls from Unwanted Access
Call forwarding is a convenient feature, but it can be misused. If enabled without your knowledge, someone else could redirect your incoming calls to their device, allowing them to listen in. Until now, telecom providers like Jio, Airtel, BSNL, and Vi required users to disable forwarding via phone settings. Jio’s latest update takes a step forward by letting users control call forwarding directly within the app.
How the Feature Works
With the new MyJio app feature, users can:
- Check whether call forwarding is enabled on their number.
- Adjust settings for voice and video calls.
- Choose options like Always Forward, Forward When Busy, Forward When Unreachable, or Forward When Unanswered according to their preference.
This provides transparency and gives users complete control over their calls without navigating multiple menus.
Requirement: Mobile Data Must Be On
To use this feature, users must have mobile data enabled on their device. The functionality does not work over Wi-Fi alone, as the app requires a live mobile network connection to apply changes.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Open the MyJio app on your smartphone.
- Tap the Profile icon at the top right corner.
- Go to Mobile Settings, then Service Settings.
- Select Call Forwarding.
- Choose Voice or Video depending on which setting you want to adjust.
- Review the available forwarding options and enable or disable as desired.
With this update, Jio users can now monitor and prevent unauthorized call forwarding, giving them greater privacy and control over their communications.
