Why Has Finding a Suitable Life Partner Become So Difficult? Women’s Federation Seminar Explores Practical Solutions

The Central Unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Shwetambar Jain Mahila Sangh organized a thought-provoking seminar at Dadawadi, Rambagh, to discuss the growing challenges in finding suitable marriage partners in today’s changing social environment. The discussion focused on evolving social values, changing priorities among young people, and the increasing expectations surrounding marriage, while experts also suggested practical solutions to address these concerns.

Delivering the keynote address, Virendra Kumar Jain stated that the trend of delayed marriages has increased due to the growing emphasis on higher education, career development, and financial stability. He noted that expectations regarding education, income, profession, appearance, height, family background, city of residence, and lifestyle have risen significantly, making it increasingly difficult to find a compatible life partner.

Rekha Jain observed that the financial independence of women is a positive social transformation. However, it has also raised expectations for equality, compatibility, and mutual understanding while choosing a life partner, making the decision-making process more complex.

Sneha Kataria pointed out that education and employment opportunities have led many young people to live in different cities and countries, reducing opportunities for personal interaction and meetings.

Vijaya Jain emphasized the importance of balancing modern and traditional values, stating that maintaining this balance has become one of the biggest challenges in contemporary marriages.

Sushila Betala said that the increasing number of divorces and unsuccessful marriages has made people more cautious while making marital decisions, resulting in a longer matchmaking process.

Pooja Jain explained that many promising relationships fail to progress because expectations and personal views are not communicated clearly during the initial stages of interaction.

Rekha Nanavati urged families and prospective brides and grooms to keep their expectations realistic and to distinguish between essential qualities and desirable preferences while selecting a life partner.

Sangeeta Porwal suggested widening the search beyond one’s own city and exploring broader social circles to improve the chances of finding a suitable match.

Sudha Jain encouraged greater participation in reliable matrimonial platforms and online matrimonial meets organized by the Women’s Federation to facilitate meaningful connections.

Office bearers and members from 77 Jain Women’s Associations of Indore participated in the seminar. Concluding the program, Pooja Jain expressed gratitude to all the speakers and participants, stating that such discussions play an important role in promoting positive social thinking and helping address the challenges faced in finding suitable life partners.
