Patna, Bihar: The investigation into the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Patna has now reached Jehanabad. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has discovered that the student had purchased six strips of anti-depression tablets from a local pharmacy in Jehanabad on December 26. Authorities are now connecting the dots using the batch numbers of the medicines and statements from her family.
SIT Finds Crucial Evidence Linking Pills to Student’s Mental Health
During the probe into the student’s death and the alleged circumstances surrounding it, SIT reportedly found scientific evidence linking the student’s mental condition to the events leading to her demise. Forensic examination of empty strips of the tablets revealed batch numbers, which led investigators to the Jehanabad shop where the medicines were purchased. Preliminary findings suggest that the student had been suffering from severe depression and was consuming the medication in large quantities.
Journey to Jehanabad and Medication Details
SIT sources confirmed that the student had traveled from Patna to Jehanabad with her family on December 26, where she bought six strips of anti-depression tablets from a local pharmacy. The shopkeeper corroborated the purchase. She returned to Patna on January 5 with the medicines. Police are now tracing the doctor who prescribed these medications or determining whether she was self-medicating.
Family Interrogation Planned
Investigators are preparing to question the student’s family in detail. Authorities want to understand whether her relatives were aware of her mental state and her consumption of the drugs. The SIT is also probing the reasons behind her depression and whether it had a direct connection to the night of the incident.
Batch Numbers Provide Key Leads
Forensic analysis of the empty strips and their batch numbers proved to be a turning point in the investigation, redirecting the SIT from Patna to Jehanabad. The police are also examining her contacts and interactions after returning to the hostel. Mobile phone data, hostel records, and medical reports are being cross-checked to uncover the exact circumstances leading to her death.
