Dausa, Rajasthan: In a candid and somewhat controversial speech at a wrestling event in Sikrai, Rajasthan’s Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena made headlines for his forthright remarks on politics, society, and culture. Addressing a large gathering, the minister openly admitted that connecting with the public, giving speeches, influencing voters, and winning elections is something he excels at.
Political Candor on Display
Speaking to the audience in the villages of Kalwan and Chanderi during the wrestling event, Meena said, “I may not be skilled at giving religious discourses, but I know how to go among the people, speak, influence them, gather votes, and win elections.” He added that the local populace of Sikrai has always shown him special trust and affection, as demonstrated by the success of the candidates he supported in previous elections.
Concern for Changing Rural Society
The minister also expressed concern about the evolving dynamics in rural communities. “Earlier, villages respected elders, women, and local leaders. Today, these traditions are weakening. Family tensions are increasing, and relationships within villages are strained—this is not a good sign for society,” he warned.
Lighthearted Comment on Women’s Presence
During his address, noticing a large number of women in the audience, Meena joked that while he has visited these villages many times, seeing such a turnout of women made him feel something special was afoot. His light remark drew laughter from the crowd, as he hinted that meeting all expectations in such a scenario could be challenging.
Emphasis on Preserving Cultural Values
Meena stressed that the root cause of many societal problems is the erosion of cultural values. “Respect and discipline in villages are diminishing. To preserve our culture, collective effort is essential. Grand events or religious ceremonies alone will not bring change—behavioral and social reforms are necessary. Real improvement will occur when negative activities naturally cease,” he stated.
Concluding his speech, the minister urged villagers to uphold social values and guide future generations toward the right path.
