New Delhi: Delhi has emerged as the most affordable city in the world for international students, according to a joint report by Knight Frank, Deloitte India, and QS. The report, titled “India’s 155 Million Student Mandate”, released on Wednesday, highlights Delhi’s competitive edge in providing quality education at lower costs compared to global education hubs.
Ranking and Evaluation
The report evaluated 150 cities worldwide across six major categories: tuition and living expenses, employment opportunities, university standing, city appeal, student satisfaction, and diversity. Each category was given equal weightage in determining the rankings. In the list, Mumbai ranked 11th and Bengaluru 15th, while Delhi secured the top position, making it the most student-friendly and cost-effective destination globally.
Affordability and Benefits
India’s cities, particularly Delhi, offer a clear competitive advantage in terms of affordability. Lower tuition fees and living expenses make education accessible without compromising quality. Compared to cities in the UK, US, Europe, and Australia, studying in Delhi allows students and their families to reduce dependence on long-term education loans while maximizing the return on their educational investment.
Global Attraction for Students
The report highlights that Delhi’s combination of high-quality institutions, cost-effectiveness, diverse environment, and employment prospects positions it as an attractive hub for international students seeking a balance of education and affordability.
