In a dramatic turn of events in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi presented the book of former Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane, claiming that the Indian Army had been prepared to strike Chinese tanks that had entered Indian territory. The move sparked a sharp response from BJP MPs, who accused him of politicizing national security.
Jharkhand BJP MP Nishikant Dubey responded by bringing 100 books to Parliament, stating, “Today it’s all about books. In exchange for one book, I have brought 100 books. The nation must know the true history of the Nehru-Gandhi family’s misdeeds.”
Anurag Thakur Criticizes Rahul Gandhi and Congress
BJP MP Anurag Thakur further criticized the Opposition, claiming that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party’s anti-India stance is evident. “While some opposition leaders seemed happy when the U.S. raised tariffs on India, they should have supported India during a historic India-U.S. trade deal,” he said. Thakur alleged that the Congress Party consistently opposes the Indian Army, trade agreements, and national leadership, and tries to obstruct the smooth functioning of Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi Presents Former Army Chief’s Book
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi showcased former Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane’s book to the media, emphasizing that the Indian Army was ready to engage Chinese tanks that had crossed the border. Addressing the press, Rahul Gandhi said, “Some claim this book does not exist. Here it is. Every Indian youth should see this. It is General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s book, but I was told I cannot quote it directly.”
Revealing the Army’s Frustration
According to Rahul Gandhi, the book highlights a critical moment when Naravane informed Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that Chinese tanks had reached the Kailash Ridge. No response was received. The former Army Chief also contacted Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and the National Security Advisor, yet no instructions were given. Eventually, he was told by the Defence Minister that he would consult “the top,” who allegedly instructed the Army not to fire without further orders.
Rahul Gandhi said, “Our Army wanted to attack Chinese tanks that entered our territory. But the system failed to take responsibility and told the Army, ‘Do what you think is appropriate.’ Former Army Chief Naravane writes in his book, ‘I truly felt very alone. The entire system abandoned me.’”
The Congress MP added that if the Prime Minister visits the Lok Sabha, he intends to personally hand him a copy of the book.
