Congress Leader Prithviraj Chavan Slams Centre over Venezuela, Warns ‘Could Happen to India Too’
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday criticized the central government for not taking a firm stand on the recent incident in Venezuela, where US forces allegedly abducted President Nicolás Maduro. Chavan warned that such actions against a sovereign nation could happen to India in the future if caution is not exercised.
‘A Warning for India’Chavan stated, “What happened in Venezuela is a violation of the United Nations Charter. An elected President was forcibly taken. This is deeply concerning because tomorrow it could happen to any country, including India. Yet, India has not spoken strongly on this issue. Russia and China have taken a clear stand and condemned the US actions, but India has remained largely silent.”
