Lok Sabha Speaker Warns MPs: “Take Your Conversations Outside the Chamber”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday issued a stern warning to MPs who were continuously engaging in side conversations during Question Hour, emphasizing that such behavior disrupts parliamentary proceedings and undermines the dignity of the House.
Observing members from both sides of the House talking amongst themselves, the Speaker told them that while brief discussions are permissible, extended conversations are not. “If you want to have long discussions, please step out of the Lok Sabha chamber,” he said.
Warning to KC VenugopalSpeaker Birla also specifically advised Congress MP KC Venugopal to reduce his conversations with fellow members. He cautioned that going forward, the names of MPs who disrupt proceedings through extended side talks will be recorded.
