New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to expand its utility vehicle portfolio with an all-new pick-up truck based on the popular Scorpio-N platform. The upcoming model, likely to be called the Mahindra Scorpio Pick-Up, will combine rugged load-carrying capability with premium SUV-like comfort, positioning it as a lifestyle vehicle rather than just a commercial workhorse.
The new pick-up truck is expected to replace the older Scorpio Getaway and will be significantly more modern, feature-rich and premium. The vehicle has recently been spotted during testing, revealing several key details about its design and features.
Luxury Meets Utility
Unlike traditional pick-up trucks focused solely on cargo, Mahindra aims to offer a blend of luxury, technology and toughness. The Scorpio Pick-Up is expected to feature several high-end amenities commonly seen in premium SUVs, including:
- Single-pane sunroof
- 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Dual-zone automatic climate control
- Ventilated front seats
- 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
- Electronic parking brake, allowing for improved cabin space and convenience
These features underline Mahindra’s intention to market the vehicle as a lifestyle and adventure-oriented pick-up.
Design and Body Styles
The design will closely resemble the Scorpio-N, featuring LED headlamps, a muscular bonnet and wide wheel arches, giving it a bold and aggressive stance. Mahindra is likely to offer the pick-up in two body configurations:
- Single-Cab Version: Designed primarily for utility, offering seating for two occupants.
- Double-Cab Version: A more versatile option with seating for 4–5 passengers and a rear open cargo bed, making it suitable for both family use and cargo transport.
Powerful Engine Options
The Scorpio Pick-Up is expected to borrow its powertrain options directly from the Scorpio-N lineup:
- 2.0-litre Turbo Petrol Engine producing around 200 hp, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
- 2.2-litre Diesel Engine, available in two power outputs—130 hp and 172 hp—with torque figures going up to 400 Nm, making it suitable for heavy-duty usage and off-road conditions.
Both engines are expected to be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
Launch Timeline and Markets
Mahindra is expected to unveil the Scorpio Pick-Up by the end of this year. While the company plans to focus primarily on international markets such as Australia and South Africa, where pick-up trucks enjoy strong demand, the vehicle may also be introduced in India as a premium lifestyle and adventure vehicle.
With this upcoming launch, Mahindra aims to redefine the pick-up truck segment by offering a vehicle that delivers both performance and luxury, catering to modern buyers seeking versatility without compromising on comfort.
