“You Have Heartburn?”: Drunk Doctor Treats Patient’s Attendant at Guna Hospital, Tears Prescription in Anger

Guna: A shocking incident at Guna District Hospital has once again raised questions about the sensitivity of public healthcare services. A video circulating on social media shows a doctor on duty, Dr. Ajay Singh Rathore, inebriated while attending patients in the emergency ward, slurring his words and unable to sit properly. The video captured him mocking the patient’s attendants instead of providing medical care, leaving onlookers stunned.

Patient Neglected While Doctor Makes Mockery

The incident occurred late Sunday night in the hospital’s emergency ward. In the viral footage, Dr. Rathore is visibly intoxicated and, rather than examining the patient, he bizarrely addresses the attendant as the patient. When questioned about the real patient, he allegedly pointed to the person filming and said, “You have heartburn.” Witnesses at the scene described the doctor’s behavior as humiliating and inhumane.

Attendant Alleges Wrong Prescription, Then Torn in Anger

Kaloo Singh, a relative of the patient, recounted that they had brought their family member to the hospital due to severe breathing difficulties. According to Singh, Dr. Rathore, in a drunken state, first wrote a prescription carelessly and, when confronted, tore it up in anger instead of treating the patient. The patient was left waiting in pain for a considerable time due to the doctor’s negligence.

Doctor Suspended for Seven Days

The hospital management intervened after the situation escalated. The RMO and hospital manager removed Dr. Rathore from duty immediately and sent him home. Other staff revealed that the doctor frequently arrives for duty in a similar condition.

Guna CMHO Dr. Rajkumar Rishishwar confirmed that he received information about the incident on Sunday night. He immediately dispatched the RMO and manager to assess the situation and ensured that the patient received proper care. Dr. Rathore has been issued a show-cause notice and suspended from duty for seven days with immediate effect. A committee led by Dr. RS Bhati has been formed to investigate the matter, and strict disciplinary action will follow based on their report.
