
New Delhi: In a proud moment for the nation, two CISF personnel deployed for Parliament security have brought laurels to their unit by winning gold medals at the CISF Inter-Sector Arms Wrestling Championship. Balancing the high-pressure responsibility of safeguarding Parliament with competitive sports, the two jawans have elevated the prestige of the CISF Parliamentary Unit.
Medal Winners and Competition Details
The gold medalists are SI Birendra Singh and ASI Heera Singh Rawat, both part of the over 3,000-strong CISF unit tasked with Parliament security. The competition featured participants from 11 CISF sectors across India, with four gold medals secured by the Delhi-NCR sector, including the two Parliament security jawans.
The championship, held from 19 to 21 January, included weight categories of 85 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg, and 110 kg. Birendra Singh and Heera Singh Rawat clinched gold in the 85 kg and 110 kg categories, outperforming personnel stationed at the Metro, Red Fort, Prime Minister’s Museum, National Museum, Pragati Maidan, and other key installations.
Support and Training
According to officials, the duo received extensive support and training from DIG (Parliament Security) IPS Sanjay Kumar Sain and other senior officers, ensuring they could compete at their peak. Following their victory, the medalists are now mentoring fellow jawans, sharing techniques and tips to inspire more CISF personnel to excel in sports.
This achievement not only highlights the physical prowess of CISF jawans but also underscores their dedication to duty and excellence, both on the field and in service to the nation.
