Triple Murder in Jharkhand Sparks Shock, Daughter Seriously Injured

Palamu, Jharkhand: A triple murder in the Panki police station area of Palamu district has sent shockwaves through the local community. Preliminary investigations suggest that the brutal killings may have been motivated by superstitious beliefs. Neighbors have been accused of carrying out the attack.

According to police officials, a couple and their 18-year-old son were killed with sharp weapons late Saturday night, while their minor daughter sustained serious injuries.

Motive Suspected to Be Superstitious Beliefs

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manoj Kumar Jha of Lesliganj said that the bodies were recovered from their home on Sunday. Initial investigations indicate that the murders may have been driven by suspicions of witchcraft.

Search for the Accused Underway

SDPO Jha added that a manhunt is ongoing to apprehend the suspects. The injured girl has been admitted to a government hospital for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Vijay Bhuiyan (45), his wife Hevanti Devi (40), and their son Chotu Bhuiyan. The bodies have been sent to Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) for post-mortem examination.

Accusations Against Neighbors

The attack has been linked to neighbors Ravindra Bhuiyan and Pramod Bhuiyan. The incident has created fear and anger in the village. Police have secured the crime scene and initiated a detailed investigation.

Ongoing Village Disputes

Sources indicate that Vijay Bhuiyan had longstanding disputes with certain villagers, with accusations of practicing black magic, witchcraft, and sorcery being leveled against his family. Several confrontations had taken place previously, prompting the intervention of local panchayats.

According to local residents, a group of people reportedly reached Vijay Bhuiyan’s home late at night. After an initial assault, they attacked the family with sharp weapons, killing three members and severely injuring the daughter. The incident has left the village in a state of shock, with large numbers of villagers and relatives gathering at the crime scene.
