Tragic Death of 4-Month-Old in Mother’s Lap in Hathras: Milk Chokes Infant

Hathras, Uttar Pradesh: A heart-wrenching incident has shocked the residents of Hathras, as a four-month-old baby girl tragically died after milk accidentally entered her windpipe while she was sleeping in her mother’s lap.

According to reports, the infant, named Aqsa, daughter of Shakeel from the village of Tafra in the Sadar Kotwali area, had been fed milk by her mother at night. After feeding, she fell asleep normally in her mother’s arms. However, within a few hours, her condition suddenly worsened, and she began struggling to breathe. Alarmed, her family rushed her to the district hospital, where doctors declared the baby dead.

The family is devastated by the sudden loss. “We could not believe that our healthy baby would pass away so quickly,” said a relative.

Medical Findings:
Preliminary examinations by the doctors revealed that the baby’s airway was blocked by milk, which led to severe breathing difficulties and ultimately caused her death. The tragedy has left the entire family and village in mourning.

No Legal Action Taken:
The family chose not to pursue any legal proceedings or post-mortem. The baby was taken home and cremated according to the family’s wishes. The village is in shock over the untimely death of little Aqsa.

Advice for New Mothers:
Doctors have emphasized the importance of caution while feeding infants. They recommend keeping the baby’s head elevated relative to the feet while feeding, and gently patting the baby’s back immediately after feeding to help release trapped air, ensuring proper digestion and safe feeding.
