Suspected Explosives Recovered from House in West Champaran, Panic Grips Area

Bettiah: Panic spread across a locality in Bihar’s West Champaran district after police recovered suspected explosive materials from the courtyard of a house on Monday morning. The incident was reported from Vriti Tola village under the Chautarwa police station area of Bagaha subdivision.

According to officials, unidentified miscreants allegedly threw explosive material into the courtyard of a house belonging to local resident Neeraj Rao. Upon receiving information, a police team led by Bagaha Superintendent of Police Ramanand Kaushal and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kumar Devendra rushed to the spot.

As a precautionary measure, the police immediately cordoned off the area to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the safety of residents. The recovery of suspected explosives created an atmosphere of fear and tension in the village.

Police said three tube-shaped suspicious objects were recovered from the spot. For safety reasons, the materials were shifted to a secure location inside the premises of a nearby private school.

SP Ramanand Kaushal said that, prima facie, the seized items appeared to be explosives commonly used in mining activities. “However, the exact nature, intensity, and composition of the materials will be confirmed only after a detailed technical examination,” he said.

Further inspection revealed that the recovered items included three pieces of Class-2 explosive material, two silver-colored detonators, and an object resembling an electric multimeter. A bomb disposal squad has been deployed to defuse the explosives and conduct a thorough investigation.

An FIR has been registered against unknown persons, and raids are being conducted to identify and apprehend those responsible. Police officials said further action will be taken after receiving the technical and forensic reports.

The incident has raised serious security concerns in the area, and police have intensified surveillance to prevent any escalation.
