Jaipur, Rajasthan: Reckless speed once again proved deadly in Rajasthan, as seven people lost their lives in separate road accidents late at night. Poor visibility due to winter fog, combined with overspeeding and negligence, continues to turn highways into death traps across the state.
In Sawai Madhopur district, a tragic head-on collision between two trucks occurred on the Kota–Lalsot Mega State Highway. The impact was so severe that three people died on the spot, while another sustained serious injuries. One truck was carrying vegetables, while the other was loaded with plywood. High speed is believed to be the primary cause of the collision.
Four Killed on Chittorgarh–Udaipur Highway
In another heartbreaking incident on the night of January 15, a car collided head-on with an oncoming trailer near Narbadia village in the Bhadsoda area on the Chittorgarh–Udaipur National Highway. The crash claimed the lives of four people, including a businessman and his wife. Their six-year-old son miraculously survived the accident.
Rescue teams had to cut open the car doors to retrieve the bodies, highlighting the intensity of the collision.
Winter Fog and Negligence a Deadly Combination
A spate of accidents during the winter season has raised serious concerns over road safety in Rajasthan. Dense fog, reduced visibility, and glare from vehicle headlights—especially at night—are emerging as major contributors to such mishaps. Authorities and road safety experts are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution, maintain safe speeds, and remain alert while driving in cold and foggy conditions.
These tragic incidents once again underscore the urgent need for responsible driving to prevent further loss of innocent lives on Rajasthan’s roads.
