‘Natwarlal’ of Karera Arrested in Mathura; Fake Bengali Doctor Duped People of Over ₹40 Lakh

Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh: Police have arrested a fake Bengali doctor accused of cheating several people of more than ₹40 lakh in Karera town of Shivpuri district. The accused, identified as Bablu Guchhat, was apprehended from Mathura, where he had been hiding after fleeing with his family following the fraud.

According to police, the accused posed as a doctor and lured people by offering investment opportunities, hospital and pathology lab partnerships, and medical treatment services. After collecting large sums of money, he abruptly shut down his clinic and vacated his rented house before disappearing around Diwali 2024.

The case came to light after Suresh Chandra Jatav, a resident of Ward No. 12, filed an FIR at Karera police station on November 4, 2024, alleging that he had been cheated of ₹7 lakh in the name of partnership in a pathology lab. Subsequent investigation revealed that several others had also fallen victim to similar frauds, taking the total amount cheated to over ₹40 lakh.

Police stated that the accused switched off his mobile phones and went underground with his family on October 31, 2024, making it difficult to trace him. Acting on technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, Karera police finally tracked him down and arrested him in Mathura.

As news of the arrest spread, a large number of victims gathered at Karera police station, demanding recovery of their money. Police officials assured them that efforts are underway to trace the cheated amount and identify all victims.

Authorities said the accused will be subjected to detailed interrogation to uncover the full extent of the fraud, the money trail, and whether a larger network is involved. Investigators have identified several individuals and establishments who were allegedly cheated under the guise of medical treatment, lab partnerships, and investment schemes.

The arrest brings relief to victims but also highlights the growing menace of impersonation and financial fraud in small towns, prompting police to urge citizens to verify credentials before making investments or entering partnerships.
