Maid Arrested in Agra for Stealing Owner’s Diamond and Gold Rings, Sent Photos to Boyfriend

Agra, February 21, 2026: A shocking case of theft has come to light in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, where a live-in maid allegedly stole two precious rings—one diamond and one gold—from her employer. The maid reportedly sent photos of the stolen items to her boyfriend to inquire about their value. Police have arrested her and recovered the stolen items.

Incident Details

Akash Goyal, a businessman residing in Rangji Heights, Nirbhay Nagar, Agra, had employed a live-in maid, Laxmi, from Firozabad about 25 days ago. On February 17, Goyal and his family went to visit relatives in Gurugram, taking Laxmi with them. They returned on February 19.

After placing the rings in her bag, Arshi Goyal, Akash’s wife, found them missing. Despite searching the house thoroughly, the rings could not be located. Suspecting foul play, the family questioned Laxmi. When she did not provide any explanation, they checked her mobile phone, which revealed chats with her boyfriend.

Evidence Found on Mobile

In the chat messages, Laxmi had sent photos of the stolen rings and two watches to her boyfriend, asking him about their value. Acting immediately, the family contacted the police control room. A female police officer conducted a search of the maid, recovering both rings and the two watches.

Legal Action

Following the recovery, Akash Goyal filed a formal complaint against Laxmi at New Agra Police Station. The police have taken the accused into custody and confirmed that legal action is underway. “If the maid had been honest and informed us about the rings, we might not have involved the police,” Akash Goyal said. However, the items were deliberately concealed by Laxmi, prompting formal charges.

Rangji Heights police have confirmed that the maid is under investigation and that strict legal action will follow.
