Panna (Madhya Pradesh): The diamond-rich land of Panna has once again proven its generosity. A local farmer’s destiny changed overnight when five precious diamonds were discovered from his mining site.

According to officials, Brijendra Kumar Sharma, son of Dharmdas Sharma and a resident of Sirswaha village, along with six partners, had taken a mining lease in the Bharkhan Har area about six months ago. Their persistent efforts finally paid off when they unearthed five dazzling diamonds in a single day.

Among the finds, one diamond weighs 2.29 carats and is of gem quality, while the other four weigh 1.08, 0.91, 0.77, and 0.74 carats respectively — making a total of 5.79 carats. The diamonds have been deposited at the Panna District Diamond Office, and their combined value is estimated to be over ₹20 lakh.

Years of Hard Work Finally Rewarded

Brijendra Sharma shared that he had been searching for diamonds for several years but success had remained elusive — until now.

“This time, we formed a team of six partners and started mining in Bharkhan Har. After months of hard work, our patience has paid off. We’ve found five diamonds in a single day and have deposited them at the district office. We’re now hoping for a good price during the auction,” he said.

Expert Confirms High-Quality Diamond

Diamond appraiser Anupam Singh confirmed that the 2.29-carat diamond is of exceptionally high quality and could fetch several lakh rupees at auction.

“The exact valuation will be determined after the official auction, but this particular diamond falls under the premium ‘gem quality’ category,” Singh noted.

In the past month alone, miners in Panna have deposited diamonds weighing over 10 carats in total, signaling a strong upward trend in the region’s diamond trade.
