Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): What was meant to be a quick stop for a ₹15 paan turned into a costly mistake for a local resident — costing him ₹2.30 lakh. The bizarre incident took place in Barwani district headquarters, where a man named Bhagwan Solanki, resident of village Kari, fell victim to a daylight theft moments after stopping for a paan near Bajrang Vyayamshala Chowk.

The Incident

According to police reports, Solanki had just withdrawn ₹2.30 lakh in cash from a local bank and was on his way home on a motorcycle. On the way, he decided to stop near Utkrista School Road to enjoy a paan. Little did he know that his brief indulgence would cost him dearly.

After eating the paan, Solanki rode home — only to discover that when he opened his bike’s dickey (storage compartment), the bag containing the cash had vanished. Shocked and panicked, he rushed back to the paan shop and informed the shopkeeper. Soon, a crowd gathered at the spot, but no one had seen who took the money.

Police Launch Investigation

On receiving information, the Kotwali Police reached the scene and began an investigation. Station In-Charge Dinesh Singh Kushwaha said CCTV footage from nearby shops and roads is being examined to identify the culprits. Preliminary suspicion points towards two unidentified bikers who might have been trailing Solanki.

Eyewitness Account

Paan shop owner Dilip Kushwaha told reporters,

“The man came around 12:30 p.m. to buy a paan. A few minutes after leaving, he returned in distress and said someone had stolen a bag containing ₹2.30 lakh from his bike’s dickey.”

The police have sealed the area and are scanning CCTV recordings from all nearby locations. Meanwhile, the entire town is abuzz with discussion about the ‘₹15 paan that cost ₹2.30 lakh’ — a reminder of how a moment’s carelessness can turn an ordinary day into a costly ordeal.
