Hathras Woman Blackmailed with Obscene Video by Neighbor; Alleged Assault Leads to Suicide Attempt

Hathras, January 14, 2026: In a shocking case from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, a woman was allegedly blackmailed by her neighbor who recorded her while she was bathing and coerced her into sexual relations. Threatened with the viral circulation of the video, the woman’s situation escalated to a tragic point when she jumped from the roof of her house, sustaining serious injuries.

According to reports, the incident occurred on December 5, 2025, around 7 PM in a village under Kotwali Chandpa. The neighbor, identified as Manish, recorded an obscene video of the woman while she was bathing and later used it to coerce her into unlawful sexual acts. The victim’s husband, who works at a garment factory in Ghaziabad, later learned of the coercion and asked his wife to leave the house.

Fearing further blackmail, the woman attempted suicide by jumping from the rooftop. She sustained serious injuries to both legs. The victim has since lodged a formal complaint with the Hathras police and approached the court on January 13, demanding action against the accused. She alleged that the local police had not taken adequate steps when she initially reported the matter.

The husband stated that they had been married for just one year and that the neighbor exploited the absence of the husband to manipulate his wife. The woman reportedly spoke with the accused over the phone before jumping, during which he threatened her further and admitted to his coercive actions.

Authorities are now reviewing the complaint, and legal proceedings are expected to follow in the case, highlighting growing concerns over the misuse of intimate content for harassment and blackmail in the region.
