Officials stated that the fire started around 8:00 AM in one of the bedrooms of the MP’s residence. Three teams from the Delhi Fire Service were immediately deployed, and the fire was extinguished by 8:35 AM. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the incident. It is not immediately known whether the Patna Sahib MP was present at the residence at the time of the fire.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, who has represented the Patna Sahib constituency in the Lok Sabha, has previously served as the Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology from 2016 to 2019 and 2019 to 2021. A senior BJP leader, he has been a member of Parliament since 2000, first in the Rajya Sabha (2000–2019) and then in the Lok Sabha (2019 onwards), and has held several key ministerial positions.

This incident adds to a series of fire-related accidents in the national capital. Earlier, on 6 January, a major fire broke out on the second floor of the Delhi Metro staff quarters in Adarsh Nagar, claiming the lives of three people: Ajay (42), Neelam (38), and their 10-year-old daughter, Janhvi. During the rescue operation, one firefighter was injured.

At the beginning of this month, a fire also broke out on the top floor of a five-story building in Mandawali. Three firefighters were injured during the operation when a cooking gas cylinder exploded. Authorities noted that a short circuit in a room heater had caused the blaze, which spread rapidly through the apartment. Residents managed to evacuate safely before the fire service teams arrived.
