Fierce Encounter in Saranda Forest: Security Forces Clash with Maoists, Several Top Naxals Reportedly Killed

Chaibasa, Jharkhand: A violent encounter broke out on Thursday morning between security forces and Maoist insurgents in the Saranda forest area of West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand. Initial reports suggest that several top Maoist leaders carrying rewards on their heads were killed during the operation in the Chhotanagada police station jurisdiction.

Three Naxals Killed, Including a ₹50 Lakh Bounty Holder
Sources indicate that three Naxals, including one with a bounty of ₹50 lakh, were killed during the clash near the border areas of Jaraikela and Kiriburu. However, the police are yet to officially confirm these reports. Search operations are ongoing in the area to ensure complete neutralization of the threat.

Joint Operation by Security Forces
According to information received, senior officials of the CRPF and Jharkhand Police obtained secret intelligence about the presence of high-profile Maoists in the Saranda forest. Acting on this input, a joint team comprising Cobra Jharkhand, Jaguar units, and district police conducted a search operation in the Chhotanagada area. As the forces approached the Maoists, the insurgents opened indiscriminate fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the security personnel.

While some Maoists managed to escape under heavy fire, several were reportedly shot. Detailed information and official confirmation are awaited as the operation continues.
