ED Raids Former Haryana Minister Mahendra Pratap Singh’s Residence; Congress Workers Protest

Faridabad, January 16, 2026: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a major raid on Thursday morning at the residence of senior Haryana Congress leader and former Cabinet Minister Chaudhary Mahendra Pratap Singh in the Sainik Colony, Faridabad, triggering political ripples across the state.

The ED team, accompanied by paramilitary forces, arrived at the minister’s residence at 6 a.m. in four vehicles. All family members were asked to remain inside while officials carried out extensive scrutiny of property records, bank transactions, and other documents. Reports indicate that 15–17 officials were involved in the operation, which lasted for nearly 16 hours.

News of the raid quickly drew supporters to the site. Local police were deployed to maintain order as some protesters raised slogans against the BJP. ED officials remained inside the residence until late at night, while Congress workers continued to stand outside in solidarity.

Political Background of Chaudhary Mahendra Pratap Singh
Chaudhary Mahendra Pratap Singh, a five-time MLA and senior Congress leader, has contested nine assembly elections. He served as a Cabinet Minister in the government of Chaudhary Bhajan Lal (1991–1996) and later under Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh Hooda (2009–2014). According to sources, the ED also examined records at his Sainik Colony office. Though his declared assets run into crores, the raid is reportedly linked to a specific ongoing investigation.

Congress Leaders React
Former MP Avatar Bhardana condemned the action, stating, “The ED will find nothing. Chaudhary Mahendra Pratap Singh has dedicated his life to public service. The government is only harassing honest leaders, which is a tragedy for our political system. The entire administrative mechanism has gone awry.”
