Patna: The ongoing divorce proceedings between Bhojpuri film industry’s “Power Star” Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh will come up for a significant hearing today, February 24, at the Family Court (Civil Court) in Patna. The hearing is being closely watched, as the court is expected to make a final attempt at reconciliation by bringing both parties face-to-face.
Legal observers believe today’s proceedings could prove decisive in determining whether the couple’s marriage can be salvaged or whether the case will move decisively toward separation.
Previous Hearing Marked by Absence
During the previous hearing on February 11, Jyoti Singh appeared in court dressed in a traditional sari with sindoor in her hair — a gesture that drew widespread attention on social media.
However, Pawan Singh did not appear in person. According to Jyoti Singh’s counsel, Advocate Vishnudhar Pandey, the actor cited ill health and high blood pressure. His legal team informed the court that he was hospitalized, though the name of the hospital was not disclosed. A video conferencing session reportedly showed him lying on a hospital bed.
Reconciliation or Separation?
Jyoti Singh’s stance in court has reportedly been clear. Through her lawyer, she expressed her willingness to continue the marriage. However, she also placed a firm condition: if Pawan Singh insists on separation, she has sought ₹10 crore as alimony along with a residential property.
Advocate Pandey stated that for the past four to five years, Jyoti Singh has allegedly received neither financial support nor maintenance. The court has indicated that reconciliation efforts will be prioritized before addressing maintenance and financial settlements.
Emotional Toll of Legal Battle
According to her lawyer, Jyoti Singh has been emotionally drained by the prolonged legal battle. During the previous hearing, she was reportedly seen visibly upset and in tears.
All Eyes on Today’s Proceedings
Today’s hearing is expected to assess whether differences between the couple can be resolved. If reconciliation fails, the divorce process is likely to proceed formally. Legal representatives anticipate that a final decision in the matter could emerge within the next four to five months.
Whether Pawan Singh appears in court today — and whether the couple’s relationship takes a turn toward reunion or separation — remains the key question as proceedings unfold.
