Ludhiana/Fatehgarh Sahib: Security was on high alert in Punjab on Wednesday morning after the judicial wings of Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib courts received emails threatening to bomb the court premises. Authorities immediately evacuated the buildings and launched an extensive search operation.
Immediate Response
The threat, received on official email IDs, mentioned the intent to detonate explosives within the court complexes. Upon receiving the message, administrators activated emergency protocols and increased security at both locations. Lawyers, staff, and visitors were safely evacuated, and entry was temporarily suspended to allow authorities to conduct a thorough inspection without disruption.
Search Operation Underway
Police teams, bomb disposal squads, and investigative agencies were deployed to comb through all key areas of the court premises. While no suspicious objects have been found so far, the search is ongoing, with officials remaining vigilant for any potential threat.
Previous Threats in Punjab
In recent months, several courts, government offices, and public spaces across Punjab have received threatening messages. Most of these threats have turned out to be fake; however, security agencies continue to treat every alert seriously. The cyber cell has traced the origin and IP address of the email and is working to connect all leads in order to identify the sender.
Authorities have urged the public not to panic and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of court staff and visitors.
