Beating Retreat Ceremony Unlikely to Be Affected by Rain; Showers May Return to Delhi Over the Weekend

Following rainfall on Tuesday, coupled with cloud cover at higher levels and humidity near the surface, Delhi has experienced nearly uniform day and night temperatures. On Wednesday, the temperature difference between the maximum and minimum was just 5.8°C, with sunlight largely absent throughout the day.

Weather During Beating Retreat
Weather experts say there is no chance of rain during today’s Beating Retreat ceremony at Vijay Chowk. From today onwards, conditions are expected to improve gradually, with clearer skies and increasing sunshine.

Weekend Showers Likely
Meteorologist Navdeep Dahiya has indicated that due to fog at higher levels and clouds near the surface, areas across Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh have been experiencing limited sunshine. Winds are expected to pick up, gradually dispersing the clouds, allowing sunny intervals on 29 January.

Temperature Details
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Delhi reached 18.4°C, 3.7°C below normal, while the minimum was 12.6°C, 4.2°C above normal. Specific readings included Palam: 16.5°C, Lodi Road: 18°C, Ridge: 17.7°C, and Aya Nagar: 17°C.

Short-Term Forecast
Partly cloudy skies are expected on 29–30 January, with maximum temperatures ranging between 17–20°C and minimum temperatures between 6–9°C. Rain may return on 31 January, accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 km/h. Maximum temperatures during this spell are expected to hover around 19–21°C, with minimums between 6–8°C. The start of February is also likely to see rainfall, with a yellow alert issued, before showers ease on 2–3 February.
